teacher Mary Lee (née Pfeiffer) and electrical engineer Thomas Cruise Mapother
III (1934–1984). From 1936 to 2017 he had Irish, German, and English ancestry
and both of his parents were from Louisville, Kentucky. Lee Anne, Marian, and
Cass Cruise are Cruise's three sisters. William Map, one of his cousins, is
also an actor and has appeared in five films alongside Cruise. The cruise was
raised Catholic and lived near poverty as a child. He later labeled his father
a "coward," "tyrant," and "dealer of chaos" who
beat his children.
He continued, "My dad was the type of guy who kicks you when things go wrong." I've learned a lot from watching him lull you to sleep so you feel safe, and then bang! It made me think. "There must be something wrong with this guy." Don't believe him. Keep an eye on him. In 14 years, Cruise attended 15 different schools. Canada was part of Cruise's childhood. His family moved to Beacon Hill, Ottawa in late 1971 when his father accepted a position as a defense adviser with the Canadian Armed Forces. In his fourth and fifth grades, he attended the brand-new Robert Hopkins Public School.
He first came to the theater in the fourth grade under George Steinburg,
his drama teacher. At the Carleton Elementary School Drama Festival, he and six
other boys performed an improvised piece of music. "The movement and
improvisation were excellent...a classic ensemble piece," said theater
organizer Val Wright, who was seated in the audience. Cruise attended Henry
Munro Middle School in Ottawa in the sixth grade. Cruise and his sisters
returned to the United States that same year after his mother separated from
his father. In 1978 she married Jack South.
Cruise briefly attended St. Francis Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio on a
scholarship from the Catholic Church. He tried to become a Franciscan minister
before leaving a year later. According to the seminary priests, Cruise decided
to drop out of school when his family moved again. However, a former classmate
claimed that they both asked to leave after being caught drinking. During his
senior year of high school, he played linebacker on the college football team but was kicked off the team after being caught drinking beer before a game. He
then appeared in the school production “Boys and Dolls”. In 1980 he graduated
from Glen Ridge High School in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. In 1984, Cruise's birth
father died of cancer.

Cruise lives in Beverly Hills, California, and Clearwater, Florida where he
spends his time. also in southern Britain, where the trip took place in various
locations including central London, Dulwich, East Grinstead, and Biggin Slope.
Cruise had relationships with Cher, Melissa Gilbert, Rebecca De Mornay, and
Patti Scialfa from the early to mid-1980s. On May 9, 1987, Cruise married
actress Mimi Rogers. They divorced on February 4, 1990. Rogers was one of the
Scientology "auditors" who grew up there.
They met when Journey became one of their clients. In a 1993 Playboy interview,
Rogers discussed her breakup with Cruise and said that he had considered
becoming a monk, which damaged their intimacy. Rogers later retracts the
remark, claiming that it was misconstrued. Cruise met his second wife, Nicole
Kidman, on the set of their 1990 film Days of Thunder. The wedding took place
on December 24, 1990. They had two adopted children. Connor Antony, born in
1995, and Isabella Jane, born in 1992. Cruise filed for divorce from Kidman in
February 2001 when she was unknowingly pregnant.
In 2007, Kidman dispelled rumors that the pregnancy ended in miscarriage by
stating that she actually experienced an ectopic pregnancy. The cruise was
subsequently linked to Penelope Cruz, his co-star in the 2001 film Vanilla Sky.
An article in the October 2012 issue of Vanity Fair states that several sources
have stated that leading Scientologists have died following the breakup with
Cruz and started a covert project to find a new girlfriend for Cruise. Their
three-year relationship ended in 2004.
These sources claim that the Iranian-British actress Nazanin Boniadi, who
later left Scientology, had a brief relationship as a result of a series of
"auditions" with Scientology actresses. Vanity Fair was accused of
"poor journalism" and "religious bigotry," and attorneys
for Cruise and Scientology sharply refused and threatened a lawsuit. The story
was later corroborated by an email from director and former researcher Paul
Haggis, according to Roger Friedman.
